Step 1

In this tutorial we will create an LCD screen. To start out, create an image of 400X400. Now create the basic shape of the screen. I used a rectangular marquee tool for this. I got a shape like on the image below. Make sure you will put your new black shape on a new layer.

Step 2

I filled the background with: #A0A0A0 and made the basic shape black. Next thing we are going to do is to create a new layer above all the other layers. On this layer we will make another shape that is a bit smaller then the old one. Fill this with: #A6B9AA. You should have something simular to what I have.

Step 3

Now create an innershadow for the layer with the green on it. Use the settings that I used.

Step 4

And on the same layer we will also add an Outer Glow. Use this settings.

Step 5

You should have an image that is very simular to this.

Step 6

Now we are going to get down to the tricky part. Select the grean area by clicking on the layer while holding CTRL. Keep the selection and go to: Select> Modify> Contrast and contrast the selection by 5 pixels. Then go to: Select> feather and feather the selection by 3 pixels. While holding the selection is time to take the elliptical marquee tool. Hold ALT while creating a shape like this.

Step 7

When you have done this you should only have the upper part of the selection left. Now press: D and select the gradient tool. Create a new layer and on that layer we will make the gradient. Draw the gradient from the lower part of the green to the upper part. You should have something like this.

Conclusion

Now set the blending mode of the layer to: Screen and the opacity to 30%. And thats all. It looks great with a dark shade of green text on it.
