Step One

Open your image - or use this one.
Note that, to save using 500 pages, I will show a thumbnail of the image at each step, just click it to get a full-size one.
Now personally, I’m not a big fan of purple, I quite like blue though, so lets make it blue!
Step Two

Now as the image is a .gif, photoshop won’t let you use layers, so press ctrl+a to select all of the document (or select — all) Now press ctrl+c to copy the entire document (or edit–copy). Then press ctrl+n to open a new document, (or file — new) and all going well, the image dimensions will already be filled in, as shown to the left, and you can just press OK.
Step Three

Now paste the image into the new canvas, by pressing ctrl+v (or edit–paste) and you will be back to what we had at the beginning, EXCEPT now you can use layers!
Now go to the layers tab, and select new adjustment layer, then select Hue/Saturation, as shown below.
Step Four

Now a box will pop up asking whether you want to name your new adjustment layer, and whether you want to group with previous layer, you can name the layer if you wish, and group if you wish, for the purpose of this tutorial it wont make a difference. I left it as Hue/Saturation 1 and didn’t group, as seen below.
Step Five

First of all, make sure you have the `colorize` box checked, and the `preview` box checked, so you can see the effect your adjustment will have on the image.
Now I want my DL wallpaper to be a very full blue, so I will push the saturation right up, the hue setting adjusts the color, 202 is a nice blue color, if you push it left you get red, orange, yellow, green and to the right you get purple, pink and red.
I chose to make the image *very* slightly darker, you can play about with this if you wish, but generally when coloring wallpapers you can just leave them at or about 0.
Step Six

Now click OK, and you’re done - well done you re-colored a wallpaper, go try it with something else, flowers are easy prey, and people look funny when u make them green!
