Step One

OK, I presume you have completed the speaker tutorial, and have the image shown to the left already - if not go do it!

Step Two

The next step is to make the actual body, which we will add details to next - to do this, use the circular selection tool, and then, holding the alt key, drag a fairly large circle from the centre to make an oval shape, then whilst holding shift (so that the next selections add to the current selection) drag 2 more ovals, above and below the one you have already dragged, as shown to the left, then fill the selection with #CDCDCD.

Step Three

Now we need to apply some layer styles to this layer. Use these settings: Outer Glow Blend Mode: Normal Opacity: 75% Noise: 0 Color: #B8B8B8 Technique: Softer Size: 5 Spread: 0 Contour: / Anti-Aliased: Unchecked Range: 50 Jitter: 0 Bevel and Emboss Style: Inner Bevel Technique: Smooth Depth: 100 Direction: Up Size: 3 Soften: 0 Angle: 120 Altitude: 64 Gloss Contour: / Highlight Mode: Screen Highlight Opacity: 75% Shadow Mode: Multiply Shadow Opacity: 0% Satin Blend Mode: Multiply Opacity: 7% Angle: 19 Distance: 11 Size: 21 Antialiased: Unchecked Invert: Checked Contour: Stroke Size: 1 Position: Outside Blend Mode: Normal Opacity: 100% Fill Type: Color Color: #B6B6B6

Step Four

Now we need to add some detail, first we’ll add some little screw tops, by dragging a tiny circle, then drag a radial gradient from the top centre, to the bottom centre, as shown to the left. Then, add some layer styles, as shown below: Inner Shadow Blend Mode: Lighten Opacity: 47% Angle: 120 Distance: 5 Choke: 0 Size: 5 Contour: / Anti-aliased: Unchecked Noise: 0 Outer Glow Opacity: 47% Noise: 0 Color: Black Technique: Softer Spread: 0 Size: 3 Contour: / Antialiased: Unchecked Range: 50 Jitter: 0

Step Five

Now duplicate this layer 4 times (layer–duplicate layer) and then move the copies to the appropriate places on the body (as shown to the left). You should have something like that shown to the left now.

Step Six

Now we are going to create 2 more layers to make the bottom cone on the speaker, to do this, first of all, on the lower layer of the 2 you’ve just created, make a circular selection, and then fill it with a radial gradient from #8E8E8F to #DBDEDD, from top to bottom - as shown to the left.

Step Seven

Now make another circle, smaller than the last one, and drag another radial gradient, #363837 to #CACDCD - from almost the top left corner to just outside the circular selection - this gives a nice inset effect - you should now have something like that to the left.

Step Eight

Next we make a new layer, then on this new layer, we drag another circular selection, then fill it with a linear gradient this time, from the top to the bottom of the selection, from #909090 to #C8C9C9 - as shown to the left.

Step Nine

Now make another circular selection, smaller than the previous one, but with the same center, and fill it with #303636, to get an effect like that shown to the left.

Step Ten

This step is slightly more complicated - make another selection the same size as the previous one, and fill it in grey. Now cut a smaller circle from it and hit delete, you should now have the outline of a circle. Now, make a 2px wide rectangular selection from the centre-top to the bottom of the circle, and fill this in grey. Finally, grab the paintbrush and paint a small oval dot in the middle - you should now have something like that to the left.

Step Eleven

You can now apply some layer styles to this layer, using these setting: Color Overlay Blend Mode: Normal Color: #8FA3A2 Opacity: 72% Pattern Overlay Blend Mode: Normal Opacity: 63% Pattern: Any of the default ones Scale: 85%

Step Twelve

Make another layer, and paint a tiny light grey semicircle, as shown to the left, around the oval section of the previous step.

Conclusion

You are finished! You should have something like that shown to the left now!
